The trending topic is now the hashtag #Exigimosdebate on Twitter where voters demand to hear more from those who seek to be the next President of the Dominican Republic. Presidential election is scheduled for 5 July 2020. The presidential candidates are Gonzalo Castillo for the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Luis Abinader for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Leonel Fernández for People’s Force, Guillermo Moreno for Country Alliance (AlPais) and Ismael Reyes Cruz for the Institutional Democratic Party (PDI).
