so the airline employees and buddy pass holders or companions of employee are left in dark.
I still don't know how I will get my 10 dollars back because the tax I will pay will get deducted from the employees paycheck.

Somewhere in the employees access to the site where she books your tickets, there is a breakdown of the taxes paid.

I know there is with American Airlines employee access, I've looked at them. Get a screen shot of that "taxes paid" breakdown and use that to file for your reimbursements. Maybe do a bunch at once, rather then all that hassle for 10 bucks.

I fly to Santiago on May 15, my ticket was purchased in early April, I think before they started adding the $10 onto the ticket. I don't see how the tourist fee collector person is going to know if the $10 is on the ticket or not. I usually buy it online but now I will wait and see. I think I just saved myself $10

Are the airlines not still handing out a tourist card to everyone on the flight and a DR person collects it on your way to immigration? I think that's the way it is supposed to work. Maybe the DR doesn't have enough cards printed to give a stash to each airline yet.

I suspect the plan is to eliminate the kiosk...

Like Global Traveler, NEXUS...
less staff

In the DR case - less pilfering of the fee

Many govts are trying to reduce border staff...

if the ticket is paid... go straight in
Do Not Pass Go

I arrived in Santiago airport yesterday, via Copa from Panama. No cards were handed out on the flight (not that Copa has ever done that). There was no one staffing the tourist card counter at immigration.

No one asked for a tourist card or proof of payment.

One less thing to deal with.

does your ticket show a $10 fee was charged ??
that particular ticket I cannot see the electronic receipt. The ticket was purchased early april apparently before they finalized the new system. I tried on copa's website but could not access the e-receipt. If you book a ticket in their website now, the 10 dollars does show up in the taxes.

You have a good enough deal on the Buddy Pass that you don't need to squeeze $10 out of it.

Your friend can work that out

after paying highest airport taxes in all Americas, I am not too crazy about paying another 10 dollars for free to the government.

I was trying to open a refund case using the DGII webpage and the first issue we have to send copy of the passport first page, had to scanned, then the webpage didn't recognized pdf file for the invoice pdf page, I had to printed and reduced both pages to make it fit in one page 8½ x 11 because you can attach only one page and the details for the taxes is in the second page and all your personal info and ticket number is in the first page, so better they have everything. When I finally completed the info in the webpage and uploaded the 2 files, when clicked send the webpage didn't send anything and kept as no body clicked send to complete the reclamation.

Its happening what I was scared, are making easy everything for turist and fuc......ng Dominicans to rob us, making hard to refund the 10.00 dollars so we quit.

I booked 2 days ago a ticket to fly to Mexico and I saw a charge of 10.00 US$ with the code L8

I wont give up

Keep track of your hours. And then divide by 10.

The other thing I thought of is that with the old method, if they wanted to raise the rates by $2 or something else, it would be a major ordeal just always having change. Now, if they want to raise the visa fee every few months it's just a programing change. That $10 visa will be $20 in no time.

I think it's good value for all the effort to retrieve the $10. If I get bored it should fill my day nicely!

AIRPORT DEPARTURE TAX (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)$20.00 USD

AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE FEE (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)$32.60 USD

TRANSPORTATION TAX (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)$121.30 USD

If you booked one way to USA is not charged, the charge appears on one way tickets coming to Dominican or any flight landing in Dominican Republic.

The charge shows as L8 tax. I booked a flight with AIr Canada and got my charge of 10.00,  Sent a comolain about it and I have an open case, will see who works faster, i have another reclamations from past trips to Canada too that I was charged also with the 10.00
dollars.

If you are in transit not apply of if you booked from Dominican Rep and you are Dominican or Resident in the return flight do not apply, but they are charging every body.

I booked roundtrip from here but how do they know I'm a resident when my passport is Canadian?

If you're suggesting that the airline will waive the fee for residents -
I would say 'It won't happen'

Too much work for too few customers.

If you include the hidden tax of ridiculous jet fuel costs, its nothing short of armed robbery.

They should add the 18% vat and 10% service too, after all they are servicing you real well, right up the wazoo.

You get that extra tax when you book tickets from the DR , not to it.

I often arrive with no return and get hit with it on the outbound booking

It's considered a Dominican purchase at that point... and taxable
