For those who need to buy an inverter, I can highly recomend to check this local manufacturer from Santiago " Martin Inversores " I buoght a 1.5 Kw. from him in january 2003 I used it for five years and before my depature to the US. I instaled the same inverter in my mom's house and it is still running with the same four bateries.
I never had any problem with this unit, the price and the garanty are good. this guy is electronics engineer graduated from PUCMM.
here is his website.... Bienvenido a Mart?nInversores.com // MITEC... Power Conversion Systems

The Trace/Xantrex store in POP has the SW5548 inverter for RD$100,000 including installation. It is a great inverter at a good price.

SW5548 is way too much for me I'm looking for a 2424
Last I heard, a 2424 runs the equivalent in pesos to $1K US (34,000 rd).
Good batteries are going to cost you a shade over $100 US/each, if you're a good shopper.
A 2424 with a dozen good batteries & heavy duty connectors will likely run close to $2,300 US (80,000 rd)
As you may want to compare prices, you could phone Trace Luis Hernandez in STI at 809-971-9144.
I recently bought trace Blacks from them at 3,500 pesos each, if I remember correctly, and they're an excellent battery.

Luis Hernandez is in STI, a couple of blocks East of Bartelemi Colon.
Let me see if I can find it on a map and get back to you, as I can't remember the name of the street right now.
