I think the lights are fabulous! When we first got them I would sit and watch the motoconcho drivers around me counting down......... It was hilarious.... Like Lambada says, they seem to have stopped counting backwards now....

And yes, as soon as it is green the hands are on the horns.....LOL

I first saw these lights in colombia in 2001. They were fantastic. Now we have them almost everywhere in santiago. They are great.

Perhaps that is an attempt by the politicians to teach the people how to count the diminishing pesos in their pockets due to more and more taxes.

But with the countdown timers, they can be more precise and more people may have a tendency to try to beat the light.

one thing i love about the lights is to watch the drivers trying on how many seconds pass their "time" they can still cross the junction....
