Rescue workers recovered the corpse of 10-year old Greimy Sterlin Suriel who drowned in flood waters filled with plastic garbage in the La 30 gully in Angeles de los Paralejos in northern Santo Domingo. It took crews of the Center for Emergency Operations (COE) and Civil Defense four days to find the child’s body. Juan Salas, director of the Civil Defense, urged parents to be more watchful of their children, especially during storm season. The child reportedly slipped and fell in the gully and was dragged by the waters.
