I just do not operate and motor vehicle in RD. i was trained in Defensive driving . Had one roll over back in 1969 .due to black ice.. my bad.
Here only Offensive Driving is applied. Not my idea of safe driving.
Plenty of taxi's available. And peace of mind.
Sorry for the family whom lost a Son
Completely agree. The risks outweigh the benefits. Besides, you save a ton of $ not having a car.

the motorcade was not looking for the motorcycle period. at that point they have the right of way an they are taking it! your bad if you try to cross it. In the old days you used to see non motorcade vehicles following the motorcade as they knew it was flying, don't see that as much anymore
I still see that being done with emergency vehicles.

Personally I think they should ban all motorcyclist, or at least make it SUPER expensive to have one. Sadly though it would never work.
I live close to the road here in Sosúa, close to the municipal cemetery and almost every night I can hear and see young adults doing their competitions on that long stretch, IDIOTS. And time and time again they have accidents, (no wonder).
But on this matter, you can clearly see on the video that those two motorcyclists did ignore the police, and just thought like anyone else where "Huh, there doesn't seem to be any traffic, so why shouldn't I cross". And the "funny" part is in other videos the family is calling for justice, that just because the VP is a rich woman and that family is poor they will never have justice. Justice?? He was the one who "broke" the law. Of course it's always tragic when someone dies in an accident like that, But I've already made it clear I will NOT sit on any motorcycle anytime soon, and I'm not going to allow my kids to buy any, whilst they are under my roof.

Motorcycles should be controlled much tighter.

The minimum age to ride a motorcycle should be 25 yrs and only used as transport for those who work and have an ID badge from their work.

Any motorcycle without the correct documents in the rider's name, License, proof of insurance, and plates should be confiscated. Same for no lights.

Tighter controls on sales and no motorcycle can leave its point of purchase until the purchaser can show proof of insurance and plates.

Tax the living daylights out of them.

They gotta get all of these kids, robbers, and joyriders off the streets.

Sunday past I was on foot at 27 de Feb and Lincoln and there was some kind of caravan. Everybody stopped and no one even looked like they were gonna try to run it. It was over in under 15 seconds.

Police routinely stop cars at intersections all the time for a variety of reasons. Motorcyle drivers in their infinite wisdom routinely assume they don't have to follow instructions from police and this is the result.
You see the pic of the police suv?
Reads like an intersection T bone.
And it was a relatively high speed collision, probably faster than a moto could even go, two up in the city.

I have been passed on the highway by these security convoys and it is past scary into reckless high speed driving.
All done with the idea of "security"?
I like everyone to feel secure but not when it causes deaths. These government convoys have a bad record for accidents.
This is not IRAQ.
Having armed guards is plenty, no need to drive like this.
No one is this important.
Where they going anyway, tennis lesson?

I think they have had a valid and reasonable reason to do so... If the intersection was blocked, it would not be smart to try to cross...
When I have seen them "block an intersection" they are off to the side, waving one hand and often still on the motorcycle.
Nothing is blocked.

Totally agree, but still, it's not the point. When you drive ANY vehicle on the road you have to abide by the rules. Clearly, the motos here doesn't. They don't even care (clearly I'm speaking in general terms).
Would that guy have been killed if the "security escort" had been driving at a "reasonable" speed? Well, not that day, but seeing that he disregarded the policewoman(?)'s signs, would just suggest that it's not the first time he had crossed an intersection where he shouldn't have done so, and sooner or later they will get into an accident.
