Hi:

Just a suggestion. Santiago to Punta Cana is probably close to 4 hrs by car. You would be better off flying in thru an airport, if possible, where you can make a connection into Punta Cana. Even if this airport is not in the DR. The flight may be more but a car to Punta Cana is going to be at least $250 or more each way. Pay up front and avoid the hassle.

Last time I drove from STI to Punta Cana it tooks me about eight hours making a quick stop for lunch at a Italian fast food place in Higuey, I remember the pay rate I got for this trip was US $ 290. Dollars four years ago.

Save your money and use the buses and taxis......take a taxi to the Metro or Caribe Tours Bus Station in Santiogo , don't know the amount, but not much.....Then take the bus to Santo Domingo for about 180 pesos, a little over 5 US per person.......

You will probably arrive in Santo Domingo too late to catch the bus going to Punta Cana, Bavaro Express, that leaves to Punta Cana about 7am, if not earlier, which means you can stay in a cheap hotel or hotel of choice in the area and those buses run until early afternoon..........the taxi in Santa Domingo will run around 200 pesos each way, from and to the hotel..........and the bus ride is around 320 pesos, or around 10 US.........You should do your money exchange outside of the airport as soon as possible, like around the first bus station, I would go with the Metro Bus Station in Santiogo.........

Getting to and from Punta Cana is difficult, because the main two bus lines don't go there and there are two Bus lines that will take you to and from Santa Domingo......

I have been making the trip to and from Punta Cana and Sosua or Porta Plata for around 3 years or more, at least a couple of times a year and it always involves an overnight stay in Santa Domingo...........It can be done in one day, if you arrive early enough, I haven't been so lucky........

You can also try to have someone from the wedding party pick you up in Santa Domingo or find someone in the wedding party to return to Santo Domingo or Santiogo with and if you are bold enough, speak up laud enough on the plane to request whether anyone is going to Santo Domingo or Punta Cana and team up........2 or more heads are always better than one......

The main thing is to take your time and go with the flow.......I just so happen to usually travel alone, unless I'm introducing someone to the Island, for the past 8 years, enjoy your stay........:bunny::bunny::bunny:
