Tropical wave and trough bring heavy rains

A tropical wave moving across the country, combined with an upper-level trough, is bringing cloudy skies, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, 3 September 2024.

The National Weather Institute (Indomet) reports that several provinces remain under weather alerts as the atmospheric systems intensify throughout the day. Residents in Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Santiago, La Vega, San Juan de la Maguana, Greater Santo Domingo and other areas can expect moderate to heavy downpours accompanied by lightning and strong winds. These conditions are forecast to persist into the night.
