All joking aside, the embassy has a right to determine who gets priority for press credentials. The White House doesn't invite the national inquirer to all their press conferences.

That being said, if DL was previously allowed to all official embassy events and now they are not, then I do, as an American, have an issue with the behavior of the Ambassador.

Because I would perceive that as retaliation against the press for running something that was previously made public. It would go against our freedom of the press ideal that he is supposed to represent.

personally I can only laugh about this, he's digging his own grave. I'm not an American citizen but I don't like the potential influence of this guy in DR, so the sooner he's back in the US, the better. Many Dominicans think alike (maybe not many foreigners), and DL understands that and thought it newsworthy for their readers to show them the kind of gatherings the embassador of the USA holds in his residence and posts on Facebook.

the crux of this entire matter is whether or not he is within his authority to deny entrance to specific persons. none of us knows this. it might appear petty to some, but since none of us works at the State Department, we cannot say whether or not he is in violation of protocol. if he is not, it is a non issue, since if i throw a party, and you have a history of trying to marginalize me, then you are not coming to the next one.
