Omitting certain details helps to paint a colorful picture. Anyone who believes Americans are not allowed to enter Haiti is an absolute fool.I would still like verification that an American can't cross into Haiti. That doesn't sound right.

When you go to Haiti from the DR do you show your US Passport to enter, or do you just show your 2,000-peso bill?I would still like verification that an American can't cross into Haiti. That doesn't sound right.
I am going with the border patrol. Everyone should be smart enough not to antagonize a uniformed officer and know how to deal and communicate with them. An entitled ex shoulder with a chip will lose every time. For that matter a nurse or a car salesmen with an attitude will lose as well.
LOL Speaking from experience? The American had one job to do and he decided it was best to argue instead. One of my special talents is to anger people, however it is very important to pick the right time and place to employ that skill.
Yes try an argument with a CBP officer and you're in trouble.Being a "Wiseguy" with Custom Agents in ANY Country will not end well.,,,,,,,,,,,,,Try it in the US and enter the "Back Room" for a few hours.
All of the parts that show how stupid the American acted have been skipped or glossed over. Sargent Slaughter reported that the border guy spoke poor Creole, but didn't mention an argument in Creole which obviously happened. Perhaps Sarge has Haitian documentation and wanted to enter with that. I hope a lesson was learned there. Violence rarely happens by accident. Unfortunately, sometimes violence needs just a bit of encouragement to occur.I am confused, how do we know the "American" was arguing to the point where hitting him was necessary? The story is confusing, details seem missing or not explained well. I agree that with any government agent, customs, border agents, etc...it is best to smile, do what they ask and move on. But I would think working at that border could bring out the "worst" in some. Regardless of what happened, was violence really necessary?
Why the quote marks on enlisted? Would you do the same if he was a retired commissioned officer?Well, it looks like an "enlisted" man tried to throw his weight around and lost.
You think the Border guy knew or cared? Want to throw weight around go to a Gym.............Why the quote marks on enlisted? Would you do the same if he was a retired commissioned officer?
Quote marks because everything about this story is alleged. Why the quote marks on enlisted? Would you do the same if he was a retired commissioned officer?
I hope he wouldn't lie about being a retired enlisted Army member...but whether he is or is not really means nothing in the storyQuote marks because everything about this story is alleged.
Big was a commissioned officer, who thinks they pass perfume instead of stools. Why the quote marks on enlisted? Would you do the same if he was a retired commissioned officer?
