Uber From Punta Cana Airport

I remember there was a problem with the taxi drivers getting upset with the UBER drivers.
Does this still exist at this point in time.. I was told things have smoothed out a bit

Last year I was told that they were not and that you would put your life into your hands if you hailed a uber at the airport. Is it different now?
