Hold on, big bird you argued with me for pages in this thread on the ills of uber. You even accused me of having a financial stake in it. You know what I'm learning you just debate for the sake of debating. Note to myself stop getting into debates here. Lmao

The ills of Uber as far as I am concerned have always been ONE issue and that is the airport pickups and for some the trip to the airport. I have never, ever condemned the use of Uber in and around SD Centro. Please try to keep your posts correct.

Have a good evening ,,,,,,,,,,,, holiday time so cheer up!

I personally haven't tried this in SDQ, I know is available in certain countries but not sure to be a fact in DR yet?

Can anyone confirm this?

For what it is worth you can pay cash using Uber in la rep dom. I have a friend who does it all the time.

I am using UBER more and more time now, even though I have 4 Jeepetas (All for sale) and that's living in San Cris!

I always pay cash when using uber in Santiago

Sent from my SM-J730GM using Tapatalk

It's been an option for over a year if I'm not mistaken. Not all of the drivers like the idea. There was a built in protection factor being limited to CC holders that doesn't exist with Cash transactions.

The two UBER drivers executed in the last month or so in Santiago is testament to that..

Cash payments don't surprise me.

When I asked my mudanza to start accepting credit cards he just looked at me -
My customers don't have them

Same as the people lining up to pay tolls into NYC....
no credit card or bank account
Big % of the population in the USA is unbanked

If that is true - extrapolate to the DR.....bigger number

Unbanked is one number....underbanked is a bigger one

Have a seat in a very comfortable place and wait for that refund to arrive........and I thought I was naive.

I can attest refunds are real, last January in Madrid the driver "forgot" to turn off billing from the airport so he charged me round trip airport hotel airport. Uber refunded the difference between lowest estimate and fare charged. And yes I got the refund back on MasterCard.

Last time I went to Santo Domingo (April) I took Uber. I noticed the taxi people were fanned out all over the airport trying to corral people to their stand. I was upstairs waiting for my ride and I told them I was waiting for my wife to pick me up.

Large Bird... you’ll love this

My trip to my Citizenship from the ZC.

I checked Uber and was sure I could get a taxi at the square...
Uber looked like 100 pesos.... noooo, I said.

Taxi man screwed me up to 500 pesos.

RETURN TRIP
I used Uber.... 110 pesos

Using the irsav mentality, I threw in a 15% tip.... calculate that whopper
Taxi man had eaten all my small bills.....

Frugality is important....

Oh ... a 2-3 minute pickup... fast

I've caught uber about four times from SDQ before last night, and never had a problem other than having to go upstairs to avoid the taxi guys. Last night at about midnight I ordered one and waited upstairs. When it arrived it was a taxi.

That sounds like good initiative to me. If I drove a taxi in Santo Domingo, I would seriously consider using Uber as well. You can turn it off when you have a regular fare. Otherwise, you leave money lying in the street.
