Punta Cana

In Montreal we have a night club that is called Punta Cana. And they have the name of the disco written on the windows. Problem is that there is "Pun" on 1/2 of the window and "ta Cana" on the other 1/2 of the window. They sometimes open the window a little bit when it gets too hot. What they don't know (I guess) is that most of the time, they open it just enough that it only hides the "N" in Punta Cana. I think we probably spent 2 years laughing at this one everytime we went. ;)

I think i KNOW WHY!

The funniest comment I ever had was from a Puerto Plata cab driver who told me he had seven sons and three of them were daughters.

I think thats because in spanish when they talk about a group of mixed gender then they refer to that group as boys. It is quite hard to explain but it would be the same with brothers and sisters if you had 2 brothers and a sister you would refer to them as brothers. At least I think thats correct. Back in April I was talking to a waitor and he was looking at my photos and he saw one of 2 girls and 1 boy, he said to me "hermanos"?(brothers). I couldnt stop laughing because I thought he thought they were boys. But then later I realised. If you don't speak any spanish and someone makes a comment like that"(the funniest comment i ever had was from a puerto plata cab driver who sed he had 7 sons and 3 were daughters")-then of course it sounds very funny and u can have a laugh about it! :classic:

It?s basically the same as in French. If you have 3 feminine things, the group is considered feminine. If you add in a masculine thing, the whole group is considered masculine. I don?t know if it?s intentional, but that?s the way it usually works here. Make sense?

Too funny!

Nubeluz,

I have never noticed that. I will be at Club Punta Cana o mejor dicho "Club PUTA Cana" this weekend so I'll take a look. What an unintended sign!

New Disco

Lesley, by the way, if you are going to b going out in Montreal, there's a new club opening up on St-Laurent near Punta Cana this Saturday. It will be called Tropico. Don't know if you know the local groups, but there will be Grupo Quimi-K (mainly bachata) and Los Players (Reggaeton/Rap) performing. I'll be there for sure ... And a lot of people that usually hangs out in Punta Cana. Va a ser una noche encendida muchacha !!! UUUUUUepa

Merci...

NubeLuz,

Thanks for the information. Yes, I did hear about Tropico but I thought it already opened (recently) as well I thought it was in the St.-Denis/Beaubien area. I don't know I must be confusing Tropico with another club. Anyway I would have a hard time swaying my gang to go there because we are all Punta Cana die hard fans. As well I don't like to be the "guinea pig" for new clubs. But I'll check back with you and maybe in the future I'll check it out. Espero que lo pases bien y s? ser? una noche encendida para m? tambi?n pero en Punta Cana. La mejor discoteca latina en Montreal por excelencia.

Suerte y chao
