Do they give you the ability to change the forwarding number? IE if I am home it rings my home phone but if I am traveling it rings my cell?

They supply the number? Or I supply the SDQ number?

yes you may change the forwading numner. the onlything is that you need to call during hours of operations to ge this done. I told them, C'mon...you guys need to shape up and give the users more flexibility. they told me they are working on allowing people to change those settings over the net. i thkn that was more PR than anything else. but hey, if they actually do it, then Beautiful!

and they supply the number, its good to go within a few minutes to start receiving calls

Forwarding

Rafael,

I gave them my cell number, so the calls from the DR ring on my cell. When I get in the office in the morning, I forward my cell to my phone in the office, so I don?t use any of my air time on my phone, then when I get home I forward my cell to my house phone.

Last month I was in the DR and I forward my phone to the house, I was able to take my cell phone and send text messages home and call my 809 line and talk to everybody at home? the cheapest phone bill I had on any trip to the DR?.. I just love it!!!! I was not able to receive any call on my cell as it was forward home,, but so what,,,I kind of liked it,,,nobody calling to bug me while I was away!!!!

Hey All,
Just some questions regarding this Plan809 thing. First off, is there an english website available for it, or only spanish??
I'm moving down to the DR in a couple of weeks and wondering if this is worth me getting before i go so i can call home at a cheap rate. I live in Canada now and will be keeping my Canadian cell phone hooked up. So could i thearetically give the company my cell number and the calls to the DR number will ring on my cell number even though im in the DR? So then i can go to the settings on my cell phone and put them to forward the calls to my house in Canada and then call the 809 number and it would be redirected there??? Then after i talk to them, could i change the settings on my cell to forward my calls to a friends house, and then speak to them after that.?? Cause then couldn't you just change your forward settings on ur cell to forward to whatever number you wanted to call?? Know what i'm getting at? Would there be any roaming charges or other costs on my cell bill??
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I just want to make sure i have all the facts before i go ahead with it!!! I dont' want it to be a waste of money!!!

I believe the facts have been stated in earlier posts, I signed up for a month after spending a considerable amount of time on the phone with e NYC representative. I made a few test calls, the qualiity is good, the call is local from SD and the call is local for me, I prepaid for a month so I have the control on this. Although you can sign up for other time periods.

I just hope they upgrade and provide this service over their website and one can manage the accounts without having to call someone.

Other than that, I can't see this been a problem or a Scam. I keep an eye on charges on my credit card so they can't fool around with it either.

I found the reps to be patient and proffessional althought professionalism standards as to phone etiquette and such can't be compared to companies we are used to deal with here in the US.

I will save a bundle if this thing actually works in the long run.

So, that means that your not going to answer my questions and help me out?
What about the website being in english? Any answers to that, or was it already answered in an earlier post?

If your family/friends in any of the provinces have Tricom as a land line service provider, they can use the 809plan phone service the same way as anyboy in SD uses it calling with Verizon.

BTW,, I never gave my phone number to collect my 809points,,, so to all of you who will register with them, please quote 809-202-7082, you will get 5 bucks off and I will collect a point for every new registration.

CB;)
Hello Chiquita Banana, I just got mine and I quoted your number so your $5.00 credit is on its way.
My new number in case that you want to call is 809-202-8939

Hi, I was wondering if you could give me a little more info on the phone calls for only 14.95 a month and the company name.
Thank you so much,

I have been using their service for one month and I am really happy about it. When somebody call me from Sto. Dgo. it rings in my home and my cell, so if I am at home pick up my phone and don't charge any minutes to my cel plan. Quality of voice is very good and my wife have spoke more than 1 hour withouth any problem. $15 per month is very good too.

Its from skymax dominicana, itsonly 320 pesos (US$10) for service to canada us and puerto rico. and 380 pesos a month for many other countries that are listed on their website (this is the link to their plans) SkyMax Dominicana
This one works by actually giving you a local Dominican 829 or 809 number that connects to a phone menu asking which of 10 extensions you would like to reach. My mother lives in DR and has it set up with my phone number, in las vegas, my sister in NYC and a bunch of other family members all over the USA so she can call any of us at anytime for free. Of course she has the unlimited phone minutes plan. But its definitely worth it because you can give the number out to as many people as you want as long as you give them your extension too. Its almost always pretty reliable, every once in awhile there is some congestion around 9 pm-11 pm est but thats the only problem i've ever had. i've been in the US for 6 months, but my mother has had it over a year. the page is in spanish, so any questions let me know.

Thanks, great info, That plan sounds great. What Dominican Phone company offers the cheapest unlimited local calls? (Santiago Area) And how much is the cheapest unlimited local plan? AND.... can you limit the line to only local calls?

When you use this service do you also use up minutes on or incur charges on your phone?

i mean just like any regular incoming call. so if its to your cell phone of course you will be using your minutes because US Cell phones charge you for your incoming calls. Thats why it would be best to have it driected to your home or work phone, of course since you get 10 numbers, you can just put all 3 and then whoever is calling you will always be able to find you. The dominican people would/should have the unlimited minutes plan though if you really want to get your money's worth.

My question was regarding the outgoing caller. However, between your answer to my question and Luperon's it seems pretty evident that the answer is yes. Thanks for the information.

The minute plans are actually pretty generous, here is a comparison of the 2 major phone companies and their rates. remember you have to add 16% itbis and 10% of some stupid telecomunications tax they have to these prices and some other 2% for i forgot what else. and all the plans have options to limit making calls to other places that are not local. You set up a passcode.
Tricom has prepaid packages starting at RD$615 for 700 min ($788 w/ tax).
1500 min for 840 ($ 1075 w/ tax) 2000 plus ectra features for $1113 ($1425). and unlimited $1400 ($1792).

codetel charges RD$1000 for instalation of any telephone line but their monthly plans are cheaper. 1000 minutes $495 ($634). 2000 min $685 ($877) and the unlimited plan is $995 ($1274) a month

Great info... thanks
