A stable rate is important, not too low, not too high. A low dollar will cause problems for tourism which exports in USD/Euro (fewer pesos). Same as remittances, less pesos received for dollars exchanged. A balance needs to be between a high and low dollar, that balance was for the whole year 56.5 pesos per dollar and it was working well. We are now at a 54 pesos per dollar and it is becoming dangerous.
Wally's was 54.5 in Cabarete Monday March 7. Always better rate than Janet's. I think Janet's is the Western Union exchange rate. WU is always lower than Caribe Express or Wally's.
