The United States government sent out a reminder to its citizens that Haiti is a high-risk country. After the Dominican government announced it could shut down all land borders, US citizen consular services sent out an alert notifying its citizens of the possible close of border gates as of Thursday, 14 September 2023.

The US notified its citizens: “If the closure occurs, US citizens planning to depart Haiti for the Dominican Republic on or after 14 September will not be able to do so, and will need to make alternate arrangements. The US Embassy cannot facilitate entry into the Dominican Republic through a closed border crossing.”

Haiti’s Travel Advisory is Level 4, “Do Not Travel,” meaning that any US citizen still in Haiti should depart immediately as safely as possible via commercial means. Flights from Haiti to the United States and destinations other than the Dominican...

Unfortunately, Royal Caribbean still stops. Our daughter and her family are going there, and they don’t want to hear anything from us about Haiti.

Maybe she could check a few days before they leave and confirm it will still be a port stop? Royal Caribbean could/may replace it with another port or just make it a sea day. Even though I doubt Royal Caribbean would go there if they thought it to be dangerous. It is a pretty isolated area.

Interesting comment. Without knowing any of the circumstances or people, you collectively call all Americans remaining in Haiti stupid.

How do we define stupid again?
actually, the word stupid was never used, maybe ignorant is better, but I have no problem with stupid, when a US Citizen travels to Haiti. or dozens of other questionable countries

Look at post #2. It was used.

If you choose not to enter Haiti, that's your business. But don't denigrate someone who is trying to help the Haitian people, especially when you have no facts.
