Venezuelans get another 60 days to legalize their status

The National Migration Council approved a 60 day window, starting in September 2021, for Venezuelans to normalize their migratory status. This is the second window authorized for Venezuelan migrants. A first was Resolution 00119-2021 that allowed for the registration of 44,500 Venezuelans to achieve temporary residence status. The programs seek to legalize more than 100,000 Venezuelans.

The Ministry of Interior and Police has not yet ruled on what to do with the 280,000 Haitian residents who had received temporary work permits under the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners that began in June 2014. The permits have expired. The Haitians have not yet been able to complete documentation to regularize their status.
