I was driving towards Charamicos today and after passing the main Sosua beach stairs, and about 1/2 to Caribe Tours, a moto coming towards me which had a young man in front and a very elderly man in back suddenly swerved and crashed.
The old man in back had a blue poly tarp surrounding him and a rope. The old man seemed to slide off the back to the right and hit the pavement, which off balanced the rider causing him to lose control.

I was closest to the crash but I saw no movement from the old man but his arm and shoulder were all I could sticking out of the tarp. The driver seemed to be slightly injured and limped to the beach side sidewalk.
I did not stop because Dominicans were coming up from behind them & stopping to avoid running over the old man in the middle of their lane. Also I did not want to be involved either.
I think the man may have been deceased before the accident or at least passed out.
I heard the ambulance from up the hill as I live above the scene of the crash.

Anyone have any information about this incident as it was very bazare if he was indeed carrying a deseased very ill or passed out passenger?

Yes but the you tube channel said it was between Sosua and Puerto Plata?
A Dominican taxista told me one of them died.

If it's the same accident I saw on Facebook, (Detras del Rumor, I think) there was footage from a car's two cameras. The first one, from the front showed two motos coming towards him, the second one, from the rear facing camera, showed a car pulling out to overtake the car with the cameras, and going head-on into the two bikes. Whether or not they motoristas were racing was hard to tell.

That was at La Union near the airport. One died and the other is critical.
So the old man wrapped in a tarp was not dead until after the accident? Or was the one at La Union perhaps a separate incident since what the OP saw was near the west end of Sosua Beach and the comments then turned to La Union... Hmmm

Separate incident in La Union, local news group said it was a illegal bike race which ended in tragedy (1 dead, 1 critical). The mystery of the old man in a tarp witnessed by Chico Bill remains unsolved

The amount of accidents is insane.
We live in a campo. I remember three cars ending up in the river of Magante, a motorcycle accident almost in front of our house, which left a primohermano of my wife cripple.
Last time I was there, december an almost new Hilux shocked a horse at 03:00 AM endend up in a piece of land next to my m.i.l.’s land.
The horse survived and run into Magante were it run into another car.
Totally destroyed but nobody hurt.
Positive thing is my b.i.l. found some useful parts for the old Land Cruiser.

I saw one where a SUV was waiting to merge, merged impatiently and the truck coming the opposite way lost control avoiding the SUV, swerved into the road from where the SUV came from and crashed into first house. The 4$$#0l3 SUV did not even stop. The moto accidents are worse.

I understand that the motos provide a valuable service, delivering everything from groceries to in this case, possibly a dead body or a severely ill person but there should be some freaking regulation of all motos and strict fines because lives are being thrown away very cheaply in the DR
