You look at DR as a developing country, as an outsider, and quite often it feels like a teenager. Desperately trying to continue bad behaviour they were allowed to get away with as a child, but realising it's wrong. The corruption for example, that everyone kind of accepted a few years ago, is now something that they are hanging onto for dear life but you can kind of see that it's had its day and is on the way out. And I think the bad driving may well go the same way. Dominicans genuinely like driving like maniacs but I've seen driving standards improve so much in the years I have been here and I just wonder if they will also grow up a bit and stop this type of driving in the future.

Killing tourists is usually a very powerful lever for change in DR that's for sure.
