Today’s DR1 News:
Passport applications and renewals online
The Passports Agency (DGP) announced Dominican passports can be requested online for the same cost as when applying in person. Director of the agency, Aura Toribio, said they will no longer be levying the RD$300 online transactions charge. First time passport requests and renewals are accepted for adults and minors. The service is still only available for residents in the Dominican Republic.
I just applyed to renew my passport, very easy the process, need to have scanned your Cedula, Birth Certificate, and a picture 2 x 2. When you finish the application process they sent you an email with a link to pay and continue the process.
So you still need to go to the passport office twice I would imagine. One time to review and the next to get your passport. I have renewed mine twice so far. Last time about 2 years ago. I paid my money at BR and went once to present my documents and a week later to pick it up. So really you save nothing by this.
Let us know the end result please. Thanks.
