Starting my search toward renovating a house under contract now. As far as brand names/ quality would like to hear the opinions of members with experience with gas stove, refrigerator and micro. All to be bought in stainless and want matching brands so there is absolutely no difference in the finish of the surfaces. Having a recommendation regarding a rangehood in stainless would also be appreciated.
I have NO desire to purchase in the states and ship it to Santo Domingo. I'm over and done with that stress in my life.

TIA for your suggestions.

I have had really good luck with both Samsung and Fridgedaire. What ever brand you choose make sure the fridge has a built in inverter.
In Canada we just bought a LG fridge as it was the only one that would fit that had water and ice. So far so good but it's only 7 months old and I haven't seen it for the past 3 months

Definitely Samsung for the fridge. We have the French door type inverter and works very well. Buy a fridge protector. A gadget that plugs between the power outlet and the lead. When the power glitches, it switches off and waits a couple of minutes to switch on after the power comes back. That will protect the electronics and the compressor. The ice maker is connected to a 5 gal water jug with another gadget that has a little pump to supply it.

Stoves are another thing. Our Frigidaire oven does not get hot enough. I think that it has the incorrect gas jets to work with propane. Many imported stoves from the US are calibrated for natural gas, not propane. Our next purchase will be a Samsung stove. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. But ever since we bought an air fryer we very rarely use our oven.

My locally bought fridge is a Samsung..... Inverter type & 10 yr guarantee
Guarantee, but that usually means the repair company hauling it to Santiago and them having it for 3-4 weeks before you see it back.
It is better if you know a skilled local who can turn it around in 1-2 days like I and also my friend in Puerto Plata had done.
$100 and it's back in service. Picked up Friday late and had it back on Monday morning

I think the only way you can get good regulated burners is to ship a stove from the US. Every brand I have seen here doesn't cut the mustard for the burner control.

Maybe - I know only that GE has to go to Santiago.
Not sure where Samsung does repairs - but hopefully you don't need to find out.
If it goes for 10 years w/o issue you bought a winner

I just happened to see this video a couple days ago. This refrigerator tech recommends GE. He says LG and Samsung quality is not what it used to be:

I don't understand this Bill. US uses natural gas. Why would you get better burner control with stove that need to use propane?

You should have gotten a package of orifice's with the stove to change it to propane.
It didn't come with the stove when I bought it new, but the stove top burners were low. I ordered in a set of jets which has improved the stove top, but the oven is a bit more complicated. I think a regulator needs to be replaced or adjusted so it's not quite straight forward.

I probably shouldn't chime in here because my experience was not in the D.R. but...
Yes, the Samsung repairman came straight to the door.
Great service.
Dryer was under warranty so no charge of course.
As he was walking out the door I happened to mention that I was finding the lint filter difficult to open and he gladly offered me a new one.
lol.
I also got him to change the direction of the door opening.
Talk about pushing my luck.
All in all it was a good experience.
I tip my hat to Samsung.

In the USA, Samsung is not highly regarded, and I’ve read multiple times to stay away from them. That being said, we have a large Samsung French door fridge there that’s 6 years old without issues.

In DR we bought LG inverter fridge. When we bought our stove, Mr AE didn’t like the quality of the burners on most of the brands, and we ended up buying an Aroma because he liked the burners best. I think it’s made in Central America.

As far as service, we’ve had warranty service on our Whirlpool washer from La Sirena and they sent technicians to the house. Now we have a GE washer there.

We had a GE washing machine. It was absolute garbage. The thing rusted apart in less than three years.

I had Samsung everything in my house in Canada. Everything was fantastic except the dishwasher. Stove, fridge, waher, dryer, airconditioning, and microwave were all great.
