Now as to your problem.
The use of "
Hola mi amor" is not a proper greeting to someone not your wife, fianc? or partner.
However, this is the Dominican Republic and many people with little or no "breeding" use the phrase very carelessly. It's just a fact of life here.
I am a crotchety old man and I get this "amor" all the time on the telephone from females I have never even met!.
BUT, after Miss Manners, I have to say that it is a handy weapon to use if you have forgotten the person's name. Of course, no real guy would call another guy "mi amor".....
As for your boyfriend, it probably is nothing, but let him know that you don't like the idea of him calling any other female "amor", because to you "amor" is for very special people...and you don't think that the person in Spain deserves that title of "love" ....If he doesn't listen then he is not worthy of you and you can find another fellow.
