What is the actual location for the new Ritz Carlton Cabarete?

Ritz Carlton in Cab east. I am highly sceptical. Especially in that area. So much garbage washes down the river and ends up on the beach they would have to sift the sand hourly. Ritz Carlton, St Regis and Four Seasons are premium properties that cater to the highest of the high end. No way there is a market for that clientele on the North coast. Maybe a Holiday inn or an eco type joint. But not a place where woman are walking around in 800 dollar Christian Louboutin pumps
You sound absolutely Right! No hotels like Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons would waste their money in DR. They offered once(remember?) and fled almost immediately after. There is imho also probably no clientele of the "800 dollar" Christian Louboutin anywhere here on any coast. This is a joke at this moment in time.

You can be skeptical. I always am until opening day, but I understand that Marriott is very serious about three projects on the north coast and the Ritz Carlton Reserve is one of them. Just trying to find out exactly where the Ritz will be since the other two are already identified as to locations:

Believe what you will windguy. You are eating too many tall tales. You sound pretty foolish to me. This country not ready for primetime, no way, no shape, no form.

Where? On another island probably.

There is that very expensive hotel at Playa Grande where Ivanka and Jared Kushner went recently.

Yes the rich and famous are shunning St Barts, Bermuda, The Caymans and Tahiti for a chance to be seen near Gasper Hernandez lol

Sorry William, jeb knows of what he speaks. History speaks for itself and the present speaks for itself. The uber wealthy can find and stay in a villa anywhere hidden in the world. The public will never find it and the major corporate entities (hotels in this case) will not have any market for them here where a profit is to be made. This is not that kind of country. Understand that thinking? The few wealthy dominicans there are go elsewhere in the world for their private little jaunts. Amanera?

Don't ask me why Amanera and Playa Grande Ocean Club are such a success.
I was a disbeliever from the start - and have been proven wrong.

Hell, Michael Jordan was walking around Cabrera (not RSJ)....hehe

It's a very long list of celebrities and society types that frequent this little place (24 rooms =Amanera)

Challenge me all you like -- I live here, my friends work there
I am not allowed to spit out names to prove my case.....

Like I was --- you would be very surprised

But - of course - they want people like you in the dark
Suits the purpose better

I have played the so called private course several times, green fees are 350 U.S No other people there except employees... The wealthy in Rio San Juan.. yea sure, they can stroll the streets and enjoy all the Uber exclusive boutique's there.

I bet you haven't played recently... since NEW (again) upgrade

$350 ?.... No

RSJ provides employees.... not clients/guests

Take a look at Orchid Bay - the investment there

A Google VP,
Christian Bale-a regular visitor (and local landowner)

Overall, certainly good for the neighborhood - and ultimately for the country

Scope out Bakers Bay in the Bahamas..........same group

William. You are certainly impressed by a few names. Christian Bale? You think Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, One and Only etc believe Cabarete, Puerto Plata and God forbid Sousa is the place for their 5 and or 6 star hotels? "Good for the neighborhood - and ultimately the country" People here are ready to talk the talk no matter what the truth. You have probably been here way too long. Remember a Four Seasons (their lesser band) was going to open in Miches? Ritz Carlton to open in Cap Cana? (By the way much more elegant than anything in Cabarete, Puerto Plata or Sousa), Four Seasons at Casa de Campo? No can do! They decided. And you quote of Christian Bale and a golf course. Oh and. "society types" go and stay in those 24 rooms too. It does sound rather foolish and naive of you to compare against hotels looking to fill their hundreds of rooms at $800 a clip night after night here in Cabarete, Puerto Plata and Sousa. DR not ready. How many languages do you need to hear that in. Face the realities as they are right now man. Sad!

Uh-Oh...

I don't quarrel with you....

Understand - this is little undiscovered (so far) area here.... and we're happy.

I do believe the RD profile is on the rise.
Perhaps those big brands may be over reaching .. hundreds of rooms at hundreds a night
They'll never get me !!----or you , I suspect

I have thought , and still think, the DR's star is rising....
to what heights remain to be seen

As for Batman..... he keeps to himself.... and - No - I'm not impressed
but when the newspapers and TV publish his presence... it becomes public info

You may not remember when Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta were the hideaways for the rich & famous.

Pls - don't patronize me....

I do apologize for my reaction. And I can understand the happiness and excitement of that the area is experiencing. That is a wonderful feeling. I can only respond to my feelings of certain hypes this country loves to put out to all of us which is usually those involved love to build up things that do not happen. But we get excited and keep thinking they might bel true. And in this instance I have seen the overhype here about so many promises which turn out to just that...words. So please forgive my
Alleged patronizing attitude. Yes I do remember well Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. Not that long ago we travelled to Punta Mita, the "new" Puerto Vallarta, about 30 min from PV. In PV they are still selling tours of Richard Burtons and Elizabeth Taylors secret ways they would see each other.
Enjoy the moment!

Aha... Pto Vallarta
Eons ago.... the then current Mrs Burton (Susan Hunt) invited me to her table ....

My friends went to Zihuatanejo before Mick Jagger
I'll never for get it
They were from Montreal... he put on a suit for the trip..... a reserved seat on a bus - ACA to Zihuat

The reserved seat was the front row....
Behind were Mexicans with animals, poultry... you name it
Much more rustico than RD..... this was the early 70's

Back to our sorry life here.....

There is another hotel in RSJ... Ani (I think)
equally as reclusive and more money ....
https://aniprivateresorts.com/
you never hear of them

These aren't promises I'm talking about here...
these projects exist and succeed as we type.

In a sense , you're right....
the guests want seclusion - and they get it in this area.
It would be much more difficult, if not impossible, in other more well known locales

I can see no reason for Marriott to announce three new luxury resorts on the North Coast in Cabarete and Sosua only to not build them. Marriott is the second largest hotel company in the world. Marriott easily has the resources and are not prone to doing such things without a marketing plan.

Marriott is already on the island, has been. They just aint opening a Ritz here. If so it would probably have been reported in a reputable business correspondence and not some dudes face-book page or that other illegible caribbean rag.

I think the big names of the hotels and promoter (Cousteau) have some people seeing stars. The Playa Grande hotel – Amanera is on a private world class golf course with good paved roads for access and is enjoying great occupancy. Why would ANYONE build a 5 star resort in a swamp, at the end of a 1½ km. narrow dirt road that is under 3 ft. of water every time the river floods. It’s going to have the same fate as the Russian project which was selling pump and dump pre-construction condos in the same place, years ago.

Marriott long ago stopped building hotels.

They currently franchise the brand and/or manage them for others..................but they no longer build them.

According to their last annual report, Marriott has cut its actual ownership to 1% of their total properties..............

William. Zihuatanejo. What charm! What loveliness surrounds. Those beautiful mountains. The lovely coves etc etc. Viva Mexico now and forever. We almost decided to be in Mexico. For me Mexico does have Everything. Culture, Food, Art, Beaches, Music Music Music and wonderful proud and industrious people.

But tell me I do not know what is RS J? I have been coming to and spend most months now during year here. With as much traveling in between as I can. But not familiar with that RSJ.
