Scuba, snorkle, 27 waterfalls tour, canyoning, hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, zip lining....lots to do unless you are out of shape or physically incapacitated. Take a trip to Cabarete and enjoy the beach bars or the Extreme sports hotel.

ANYONE can look at the weather to gain some information. It's just a click away right here on DR1. You can find temps and winds. Rain is difficult since the D.R. does not have rain radar and few weather stations have rain gauges to report it. I also try to include our Atlantic Ocean conditions for those interested in water activities in our area.

I try to post every morning and sometimes more. All actual weather reports are welcome.

Being a stoopid newbie and all, perhaps I shouldn't comment, but...

It's my understanding that the weather can vary greatly within short distances. The forecast for Sosua was rain every day, albeit nothing major. It hasn't rained once since I've been here, since Sunday. According to someone who lives in Sosua, chances are that it did rain somewhere in Sosua these days.

Cabarete
Well thanks for the "dislike". Obviously you're not in the loop with off season for boarding and the winds. September and October have no winds to speak of. So what I was saying is if this guy is coming here expecting to kite or see some wicked boarding, then he's off season and will be disapointed.

Obviously some months in Cabarete have more wind than others, but the OP is only coming from Sosua and is looking for some cool, breezy weather with something going on and I don't think he would be disappointed. Yesterday again, as I was walking the main beach in a pleasant breeze at 5p.m. there were over 20 kite-boarders in action plus a few windsurfers. Around the corner on Kite Beach there were many more kites. It is very rare that the wind is so low that there is NO action.

Get up into the mountains, Jarabacoa if you can. There can be a 20? temp difference and the mountains are beautiful. Look for waterfall tours. They use AC on bus lines and you'll be cold after being in the heat so much. The bus station in Sosua is past the Playero going to the airport on the other side of the road. Get on a bus for Santiago or Jarabacoa and enjoy the ride. Avoid the guaguas on hot days..
