Good news, it isn't that many sailors out of thousands like 4-5 Thousand. And over 1,300 have tested positive with 1 CV19 related death.

2nd go 'round....

in the 1st phase 50% of the positives were asymptomic

That's scary....
The incidents of 100% testing are rare.... and revealing

dominicantoday, the least source of info i would use.
anyways, whats the erason to use not spanish written original news sources??
those translations always include personal opinions of the typers and never show the meaning of the original spanish written sources.
I would expect the DR to reopen sectors Under State of Emergency, as that gives a way better control over the reopenings.
reopenings have to run Before the last phase of Satte of Emergency finished, in my opinion.
so they can start reopenings now and according to results of those, further economy sectors can be added week by week.
as of course not all will reopen within just the next 15 days, the State of Emergency has to be extended again and again til all is done.
at themoment the State of Emergency would expire, ALL the nucklehead people would be out on te streets, at the Car Wash, Beaches etc etc without any precautions, giving a fuck on any recommendations.
this is DR,
reopenings will only have a chance to work out, if done under State of Exceptions or State of Emergency.

no country could afford to test All(100%) of it's people.
and for the positives several tests would have to be done til all runs negative.
such will never happen, nowhere.

Now that US Sailors have been determined to have been reinfected, there is at least some doubt that herd immunity could be achieved.
FINALLY, after posting on every thread several times that herd immunity is the only solution, you have reached the same conclusion as the British government did months ago. There, they were slow to lockdown in an attempt to achieve herd immunity but ultimately gave up on that idea when it was obviously not going to work. Now they have the worst CV-19 statistics in Europe.

Hey guys I am looking for some credible information as to when the Dom Rep will open again for incoming International flights? I have heard April 3rd, April 15, May 31 and beyond. Does anyone have any insight into this?
May 17th edition of Dominican Today says June 2.

Dominican Today aggregates news from other sources. Very little is independently sourced and verified.

That having been said, if they do open June 2, and put me in the I don't think so camp on that, flights would likely be limited to SDQ and with a quarantine period. How bad do people want to go?

Right now August appears to be the target date..........stress on the "target date." The larger AI's are still not planning to re-open till November 1st for international travelers......stress on "planning."

Respectfully,

I just looked at all flights available. Earliest is June 5 for stupid money on AA. Delta is July 2 and JetBlue is June 13. Talked to a rep that if the DR made a public announcement about opening the borders again on a specific date earlier they would be trying to get flights immediately those dates

as the opinion of a newspaper writer or as a result of an official announcement of the DR Government to that date??
at this moment NO Date for border reopenings is set, not even mentioned when such could happen, by the DR Government.
all just wild speculations because people are bored at home in quarantine with internet still running, lol.

Just cause someone in the gov. In the D.R. says something, don't make it true. Just cause an airline posts a flight schedule, don't make it true. Just cause one or two countries in the E.U. say they will open boatders, does not make it so for everyone.

It takes a lot more then your ONE source. When the flights, in AND out, actually happen then we will know.

Seems people are focused on the end of the State Of Emergency. At that time, the curfew will end (if not ended earlier) and the movement of people within the DR will return to pre lockdown mode. The end of the S.O.E. has nothing to do with the opening of the borders, that is covered by separate legislation and the Prez doesn't need to the S.O.E. to keep the borders closed if that is what he wants to do.

Will the S.O.E. be allowed to lapse on June 1? We'll have to wait and see. I still think we are months away from inviting foreign tourists to come visit.

The June 13 flight cost less than the price in Jan 2020 on JB

isn't it the State of Emergency powers, that allow the President to call for a curfew?
I thought thathe does not need to ask the senate/chambers for permission, if they already approved the reigning powers theState of Emergency, then those temporary powers allow him to extend the curfew at any time for as long as the government has those temp powers given by approval of SOE.
I could be mistaken, but this was my understanding about calling out the Curfew.
someone in the know may enlighten me.

If there is no herd immunity, eventually nearly everyone on the planet will become infected. People will not remain isolated for month after month to "stay safe". I hope there is some herd immunity or 1 out of 200 people could end up dead over the next period of time. But we will see. As I mentioned , if there is no herd immunity the social isolation will only delay the inevitable while devastating the economy even more. People everywhere are starting to revolt.

From tomorrow May 18th the curfew hours will be reduced...7:00 PM to 5:00 AM...the strange part of the new rule is that Sundays curfew is 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM...

I understand it the same as you do. Emergency powers grant the president the ability to do many things. One of them is to set the curfew as he sees fit.
