traffic block up in Veron today, near plaza de Genaro.
as so often, the mixture of the black Berets, 3 AMET, a handfull PN and a dozen of the Navy.
surprisingly they been already gone when we drove back that road a good hour later.
this time they did not ask for the car papers and drivers license and check the license plate sticker in the window,
they did not even pay attention that i have NO license plate sticker in my Trucks window.
the Teniente at my half opened window asked me in ENGLISH(that never ever happened to me before in over 20 years on a road check) "good morning, Sir, Residency please".
i was shocked!!!
my wife smiled, Babygirl in her carseat shouted "Hola Tio Policia"(she want's actually to be a Cop when she gets bigger, i have to work on that one, and as long as i cant change her mind, so long she def will not be allowed to get bigger),
my answer came straight in Spanish
"buen dia Teniente.(while pulling my cedula from the wallet).
no lleva residencia en la calle, por eso hay cedulas."
he took a fraction of a second short glimpse on the card and gave it back with a "pasan bien, Se?or".
i know from my buddy, whom we visited, that they've not been there 30 minutes prior to my arrival, as he passed by there on his way home from the Marina.
it was mid morning.
and an hour later they already been gone.
i guess it was a lil test/exercise, set the spot up, all works as they wanted it to be, and gone with the wind again.
maybe they will set up such at changing locations frequently in the near future, i don't know.
hey,
different theme, as i mentioned my missing license plate sticker.
someone knows what date this month they start to sell the new ones?
mine went missing in action, but not worth to report it lost, as during august they always start to sell the new ones anyways.

Very interesting story Mike, so they are already stopping white/foreign drivers. Big wakeup call.

There we have it. The first report of a white foreigner being randomly stopped and having their immigration status checked.

Normal lazy saturday morning..... sipping coffee and baileys across the road, watching haitians walk past with their luggage.
Local PN stopped by to say hello and we all merrily watched the haitians walk past.....

P.S. they are arriving, not leaving !!!!!!!!!!!

White foreign drivers?
I do not see every action with a race card eye.
They simply stop Foreigners,
And as due their large numbers, very most will be haitians.
I would complain if they would only stop black people and wave thru every white face.
I appreciate a cleanup, i woumd even like to see it done on a much higher scale since years.
It is a undeniable fact that the illegal immigrants community contains a well above average criminal portion.
There is enough delincuency already present within the regular population, including legal expats.
To take out as many as possible of the illegal ones is a good thingy.
1000 deprtees per day would not be any problem to manage, such wpould far not be anything called mass deportations.
With the borders wide open 1K per day, to be sent back, was the norm for a long time as the usual daily occurance.
And 1K per day would be a number which Haiti should be able to welcome troublefree, IF Haiti wants to assist any of their own citizens.

Because nobody cared about anybodys residency status.
To carry the residency catd around anyways never been a obligation, the only card to carry around is the cedula.
