I've been looking for crab here in Santo Domingo and am having quite a bit of trouble. The closest I've come are the guys along the road selling them live.
the only crabs I know of are upin the mountains ,in the rivers. They have some kind of a freshwater crab that I have tasted that was really good they make it with the green plaintain bannanas and is part of there everyday diet,
Please explain this more as I never heard of it and I live in the mountains in the SW of thr DR...There are several rivers near me and still I have not heard of this fresh water crab......
Meson di Bari in the Colonial City and Vesuvio on the Malecon and Sully at Av. Charles Sumner in Santo Domingo all serve delicious cangrejo a la criolla -- Dominican style.
I also live in the mountains in the SW, and I'm sorry to say that jaibas (fresh water crabs) became extinct in the region about 20 years ago.
