Coming to the DR Feb 28-Mar 3. Out of the three hotels recommended to me which is best, the Hamilton, the Mango or El Caucho? If anyone can suggest a better hotel in the same price range as these that info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I really can't say which is the best because it would all depend upon what you like.

My 2 pesos,

Hotel Hamilton is a ten minute walk to the eastern part of the beach.

Mango is also a ten minute walk to the beach, but the middle of Playa Boca Chica.

El Caucho, a three minute walk to the western end of the beach.

You will be in BC for three nights? Yes?

If you would reply with what you like to do, others and myself may be able to assist.

You like the beach? You need a hotel with a pool? You want to stay in a tourist area? Your preference might be a remote hotel in a non-tourist area?

A hotel just to rest and read a book? Maybe you just want to save the hotel cost and sleep under a palm tree on the beach? It is all possible!

If you have never been to Boca Chica before I want to be the first to tell you Boca Chica is a small, small, small town. Boca Chica is what you make it.

Enjoy your trip.................

Hey, I like the sound of that, a palm tree and endless cuba libres. Actually, I'm just looking to get away from the February cold of DC and relax a few days. I've visited Boca Chica once during a stay in Santo Domingo. No plans or pressure just bar hop, lounge on the beach and practice my very limited spanish by mingling a bit.

The info on the disance of the hotels from the beach is very helpful. Outside of the few activities I listed (drinking, lounging and mingling) I wouldn't mind taking a chartered fishing trip if the price was right. Thanks for all the responses.

OK,,,,,,,,,,,, now I know you have some BC knowledge.

My choice would be Hostal Zapata. Zapata is located right on the beach and Dominican owned and run. I just like to support the local people.

The rooms are a little small, but nice. The price is a few bucks more than the other hotels you mentioned but you are on the beach with a free, small starter breakfast. You can just drink coffee and watch the beach for breakfast.

If you really want to do the sleep under the palm tree, no problem. Just tell the guard what tree you are under.

Enjoy..................

i have to agree with El Candil.

El Caucho is kind of a good walk to Duarte at night but a short motoconcho ride. the people at El Caucho seem very nice and the owner is real cool. i went by there once during a trip to gather info but never stayed there.

btw, i am located in Maryland....good luck !
