The child of a foreigner is Dominican if the other parent is Dominican or the foreigner is already a legal resident in the DR.For foreigners to the D.R. having declared at least one kid as parent:
Do they get a permenent Residence easier?
Do they get a Dominican citizenship easier?
Are there other benefits or privileges?
Alexander
Thanks, was afraid that there is no entitlement for a permanent residence or even citizenship.Benefit to the foreigner in that case? Nope
Good to know.If you marry the mother you can get citizenship easier
So it's Jose's kid not yours? Thanks, was afraid that there is no entitlement for a permanent residence or even citizenship.
Talking about the standard situation of a gringo and a dominican mother with a kid declared fatherhood.

Answering, correcting and being slightly off topic but related, a child born to a US citizen is automatically granted citizenship (but for registering the birth abroad) and would receive 50% of a retirees social security benefit (assuming the US citizen is collecting same). There are also other possibilities granting up to 75% in benefits.if you are a US citizen then the child is automatically eligible for US citizenship and if the child is still a minor when you are old enough for Social Security then you can receive an extra 60% SS payment.
Not sure, however I know what they should not get and what they can enjoy in the D.R., given the foreigner sends some money for a decent life.OTOH. what can the child get, perhaps now or in future? ie In original country of foreigner.
I just did the math,64% in my case...Answering, correcting and being slightly off topic but related, a child born to a US citizen is automatically granted citizenship (but for registering the birth abroad) and would receive 50% of a retirees social security benefit (assuming the US citizen is collecting same). Note also that should the US citizen pass, his or her full benefit would pass to the spouse until the child or children turn 18...........explaining in small part perhaps why so many Dominican women are receptive to having children with an older US citizen.
