I sometimes wonder about the junk that Spacex leaves in space and I wonder too about the stability of the guy at the top.
So much wondering and worrying.
And so little time.

We're less than three weeks away from the first attempt to catch the super heavy booster in mid-air at it's launch site.

NASA is still trying to figure out how they'll get their astronauts back from the space station. It's now looking like SpaceX is the one to rescue them. LOL

SpaceX Starship will be launching soon (roughly 3 am DR time)

http://spacex.com/launches/mission/?missionId=polarisdawn

The largest spaceship ever with astronauts on board.

"The SpaceX Starship is alien technology. Nothing like it has ever been attempted, as it is capable of lifting the entire pressurized volume of the International Space Station in a single flight and will do several flights per day. — Elon Musk

IIRC, this is the rocket they will catch midair with the tower arms when it returns. History in the making.

There's been a few more launches since aug, but I never get tired of watching the lift offs and return of the boosters.

Who thought we would be watch rocket launches and catching rockets out of the sky?? All of these spaceships and boosters have numerous 4k cameras that broadcasts each launch live.

This was the latest about 1/2 hour ago (8 pm)

Amazing.

Edit:

The spaceship just blew up.

Elon Musk does amazes me. He actually changed and transformed NASA, for sure.

Political explanation of what happened....

The spacecraft ¨... experienced a rapid, unscheduled disassembly´.

Cabarete
It caused many flights to divert. You can see here that many flights turned around to stay clear of the Turks and Caicos area.

Isn't SpaceX privately owned and not a part of NASA.
SpaceX relies heavily on US government contract funding. NASA being its biggest contractor. $17 billion since 2015. Some would argue that private companies can do things cheaper and faster than government agencies. Maybe so.

What Musk is trying to achieve is fascinating. What’s even more fascinating is the Russians are still using decades old dependable technology to transport astronauts to and from the space station. Reminds me of the story of NASA developing the pressurized space pen to enable astronauts to write upside down in weightless environments. The Russians gave their astronauts pencils. Simplicity is often elegant.
