Why all the negativity?

It seems that AZB continues to generalize and to put down anyone that he feels is below is economic or educational level.

I think every opportunity has to be taken on a case by case basis.

The tall blonde that was the initial subject of this thread may have been only looking for something less than a permanent relationship, assumptions seem to be overriding this thread.

I personally never finished high school, became a naval officer, earn more than most here and was the equivalent of a motconcho driver on the east coast of the U.S. before becoming motivated.

AZB. have you never been with a lady that had lower standards strictly because you were attracted to her? If not, I say you are full of B.S.

Solamente mi dos centavos!!!!!

i believe a suitable mate is one that makes you "feel" good. love conquers all faults. if you really wanted someone with a lot of qualifications surely it was a grave mistake to move to the DR.

to those who want a mate with a lot, what's love got to do with it ?

For every one highschool drop-out who is a millionaire, there are thousands who are flat broke and total losers. A highschool drop-out from DR has zero chances of getting ahead in life unless he is a good baseball player or a drug dealer.
AZB

Yeah, that basically goes back to my point about one's motivation. You can be a highschool drop out but still be motivated enough to make it in life. It is all about motivation and the amount of "hussle" and drive you have in you. If you are a drop out and have no drive or motivation, you will not make it. For me, it comes down to one or the other. Either you have the education or you lack the education and have the motivation and drive that it takes to still succeed. My match must have one or the other.

And I guess another question I have is, what is so wrong with being a moto driver. In a country where jobs don't seem to be that plentiful what's wrong with using your one asset to make some extra money. I was told that some of these moto drivers have regular jobs and after work make a little extra money on the side driving their moto. To me this is no different than using my own personal skills to make extra money making jewelry outside of my regular job. How do we know that these motodrivers are not saving the money they are making to do other things. Is being a moto driver worse than sitting outside and chatting with friends or hanging out at the colmador all day and making $0? Just because a person drives a moto rather than working in a bank does that make them less worthy? Maybe moto drivers don't feel like being cooped up in an office all day long. Maybe they chose to do what they are doing. HOw do we know they are not educated? Every book should not be judged by it's cover or every person by their occupation.

You people are sad cases, defending moto conchos and high school drop out losers. I guess some of you folks are destined to meet your kind (a motoconcho type). Is this the kind of folks who excite you? You folks really feel something in common with them? Do you really indentify yourselves with this group of people? Then I suggest why even waste your time wrting anything here when you know where you belong in dominican class system. You have chosen the lowest of the lowest in this island. Just ask any dominican. Congratulations.

I see you as usual have managed to come back with a snappy comment but you really have not answered the question. Why do you and the "dominican people" you are talking about feel like moto drivers are such bad people? That's my question. What's so bad about them? I realize that your response to this question will be a generalization, but what else is new? To me your statements are equal to me saying: All Chiropractors are A-holes but that would only be based on some of the comments that I have read from you. I don't know every chiropractor that walks the face of the earth and therefore can not generalize based on a few comments from one. But let me say this before i close this comment, I don't know you and can't really say that you are an a-hole but some of your comments at times are very A-holesque if you catch my drift.

Its a shame to see that the only people who would befriend or date a tourist / expat woman are the motoconcho types or some resort tigre. The decent dominican women won't even look at these slimeballs yet what amazes everyone is that how the foreign women fall in love with them, call them their boyfriends, fiance, husband etc etc etc. Girls are proud to be seen kissing a motoconcho, a hotel security guard, a street (gunless) cop even the jobless street corner tigres and often the pure scum of dominican society by dominican standards. Seems like your reputation has fallen so much in the dominican eyes that the only folks who even think of dating you are the scums. The people who have absolutely no place in dominican society. These guys wouldn't dare talk to a vacationing dominican woman in hotel, yet you see so many white women falling for them left and right.
I had a dominican friend who went on a vacation to a resort in playa dorada. She is a true blond white dominican lady. While she was there at the bar, a animation guy came up to her and started to talk to her in english. How beautiful she is and how he would love to have a girlfriend like her, etc etc etc. At first she didn't answer to him and simply ignored him, but the sankie kept insisting thinking she was north american.
She finally turned around and told him " oye, dejame en paz tu maldito mono...." (listen, leave me alone you god damn monkey...).
Wow, that was mean and very up front. But it seems thats how the dominican women deal with these guys. The guy went running without looking back. So you see how the dominican people treat them and see how you women fall in love with them. Hahahahaha, I guess I will never understand this at all. So stop defending them and simply admit you are all one and the same. You both deserve each other.

suitelady79, I have lived in puerto plata for 2 1/2 yrs and have been visiting there since 1986. I have met my share of motoconchos and I know far too many people in this country, even from barrios than 10 suitelady79 combined. So please give me some credit. I think I know motoconchos very well, better than you understand them.

Hahahahaha, this is funny yet so true.

I like to see these same girls date a guy who sells newspapers on the streets of NYC, take a cab driver home to her mom, falling in love with a gas pump attendent, dreaming of having babies with the tow truck driver. Hahahaha, I bet you don't give them time of the day back home, so tell me this, what is so charming about these lowlife guys here in puerto plata?

Yes

Interesting thread until it went got off track. In response to the OP's questions I would have to agree with Don Juan.

If we can verbally understand each other, and she is sweet and carries no baggage, nothing else really matters. Even if she has a child.
Education is important but not more so than a great personality.

The question was about dating and I know that for some that's equivalent to marriage!! For DATING I would take a chance on someone like that if they made me smile and had their priorities in place. It doesn't really matter if the man has a PhD in Computer Science and no children if they have no personality.

It takes all kinds of people to make this world go around. Even though we tend to associate with people that are most like us, I'm not so much into classes that I can't be seen out with someone with lesser education or children!! I think it depends on the individual no matter what their background is.

Computer skills can be learned as well as a second or third language. I was born and raised here in Canada and I'm proud that i can converse in Spanish, French, some German and some Italian. It opens your world up to so many more friends and possibilities. I'd never say never.

You probably do know more motoconchos than me as I don't know any personally which is why I wanted to know why they are considered such bad people. Obviously you have tried to befriend some motos to the point where you can speak on this subject with some authority...so what is that saying about you? You must have been running around with moto men at some point in order to be able to say they are bad. Of course I give you credit for the stuff you say at times but sometimes some things you say leave me scratching my head and wondering which one of the seven circles of hell you came from. I often wonder if you are the same person with the same views when you have conversations with the members of the board in person. Maybe one day when I'm running around Santiago I'll run into you and see if you are the same guy in person.

I don't have to own a mango tree to know about mangos. When you live in this country, you get to see everything. all you have to do is to keep your eyes open. No, I don;t talk to motoconchos or hotel sankies. I would be insulted if one of them took the liberty and confidence of calling me their good friend. I am nice to them but I am not here to call them my friends. there are plenty of respectable dominicans around if you need any real friends. I never went to the hood to look for friends in USa so why would I do the same here?
suitelady79, if you ever have the opportunity to come to santiago, let me know in advance. I would like to meet you too.
