A niece posted a lot of photos from the pageant to her FB page, here are a couple. I think Miss Guayacanes is beautiful, but certainly not representative of the Dominican Republic. I'm not sure the winner is either. No photoshop here, cell phone photos.

Yes she is beautiful and promo pictures are always designed to make girls look their very best....otherwise whats the point of having them done?????
Guess that no matter which country holds a pageant we all say...."seen better lookin ones down the pub"....."she don't look like a typical girl from this country"...etc. etc.
And I guess girls who don't enter wont stand a chance of winning!!

Good luck on the proposal. I don't think she will make the top 10 in the pageant, but only time will tell on that.

That girl will be the next Miss Universe.

She's got looks and a head on her shoulders. Search for her on youtube and watch one of her videos. She's pretty sharp, and good looking, if you ask me. Her hair drives me nuts.

By the way, she was born in Comendador, but raised in Santo Domingo. I'm waiting to see if she accepts my wedding proposal.

Happy to see a woman with natural hair win. Also notice that more Dominican women are wearing their hair that way. There is even a group that promotes it. I'm with you JD that style drives me crazy in a good way!!!

If you comb or brush curls when the hair is dry you get a frizz. The hair has to be wet and you need to use styling products, which means washing your hair constantly.

you mean world contest? who knows. i think the winner has nothing to do with beauty, it's a political choice. or commercial. which way the wind is blowing. polish girl aneta kręglicka won miss world in 1989. of course.
i think the girl is pretty. she is thin and tall. good proportions. but a winner from DR? maybe if there is a directive that someone black should win. black with natural hair. otherwise i do not think so. i'm a realist, those contests have a winner set before they even start.

Agree this is all somewhat pre-determined. The DR had a winner not very long ago, so I don't think we'll get another one. Also it's obviously not enough to be beautiful (They all are), but you must be the complete package and not stumble too badly on questions.

The "MISS" from the DR has a long history of not being representative of 90% of Dominican women, meaning, they normally send a "White Clone".
I am happy that she looks like many young Dominican women.

I could've sworn that previous " miss Dominicanas" were representative of at least half of Dominican girls, oh damn gotta get out of Gurabo and Santiago more often, and see what real Dominicanas look like.
