Yet one more super-size project for SD underway...
It's 3 years old, why don't we wait till the 5th anniversary of the hole digging?
Nope! That's when it was proposed as an investor's project.
It's on schedule to be done by mid 2015 as late.
Maybe this is the wrong spot and unrelated to this post, but I see a new highway being built in SD as I enter from the North along 1 ( Duarte) I have heard there is a new by- pass on the north side from approximately the toll booth to the airport or maybe connecting as far as Villa Mella?
That video identifies the location as Nu?ez C?ceres between Sarasota and Jos? Contreras. Jos? Contreras changes to Av Cayetano Germosen west of Av Italia.
There's a big hole in the ground at the southwest corner of Romulo Betancourt and Nu?ez Caceres.
There is also a big hole in the ground on a cross street close to 27 de Feb. couple of blocks away from Lincoln.
with the same 8 reasonably lousy movies that are playing at all the other 16 theaters in SD,., except NovoCentro
I cannot even imagine going to a movie in the DR. I can only think that no matter what the movie, it would be like The Rocky Horror picture show.

It is hard to relate the experience without actually attending, but from what I have heard of movies shown the "ambience" is similar.

Actually the movie theaters here in SD are really lovely. They are practically empty many times at the early shows. Very clean, many of them, big seats. Lots of them are small and all of them are freezing.
Perhaps it is not the DRs fault that the movies are so bad. Perhaps it is the fault of Hollywood.
I do check them out on Rotten Tomatoes before I go/ That may be a mistake. Who would have believed that a Johnny Depp would have gotten only a 17% positive from the critics on his latest flick?
But NovoCentro is great..
It is just funny to see that even if they have 10 theaters, they will only have 8 movies, just show two movie in two theaters.
Plus, of course, they do gear the movie choices to the population here and I am certainly an outlier. This I know and understand.

It does not matter here if the market is saturated when you have money to launder.
I haven't been in a movie theater in the DR since I moved here 12 years and 4 days ago.
I don't remember the last time I went to the movies in the USA. It could be 25 or 30 years ago.
Nowadays with Netflix and cable I can't imagine paying to see a movie in a big room with people chatting with each other and talking on their phones. :classic:
