Mr. Jaime Viñas Betances, former president of Instituciones Financieras (Ainfi), said that the last set of regulations issued by the monetary authorities limit the operation of this type of business. “These limitations must be corrected with complementary measures that will ease the granting of credit.”
Mr. Viñas Betances added that “The necessary extra cost imposed by the monetary authorities upon us will be transferred to our clients.”
An investigation into the current situation of these financial institutions as a result of the new the regulations is being undertaken by the economic unit Ecocaribe.
