Cibaeños for vice president

Jacinto Peynado and Leonel Fernandez have both told the press that they will choose their vice presidential candidates before the 16 March deadline, most probably this month. Political analysts speculate that the visits of both presidential candidates to Santiago could imply that both are looking for the right cibaeño figure for the vice presidential candidacy. Vice President Jacinto Peynado has said he prefers a Santiaguero o Cibaeño as his running mate, and Dr. Fernández has said he has Cibaeño roots. So far, Eduardo Estrella, the Santiago senator, Pedro Bretón, director of Corde, Tony Rivera, senator for La Vega and businessman, have been mentioned as possible candidates for the PRSC. Leonel Fernández has said he will be relying on the results of a forthcoming poll. The PRD’s vice presidential candidate, Alvarez Bogaert, also comes from Santiago.
