A PLD militant died during a political rally in Villa Altagracia. He was apparently hit by a shot fired by one of his PLD colleagues. Members of the PRD, a rival party, denied allegations made by the secretary general of the PLD, Lidio Cadet, to the effect that Salvador Balbuena, the deceased, had died at the hands of a PRD member. Marino Mendoza, press director of the PRD, said that Mr Cadet should have waited for the results of the official investigation before pointing a finger.
