The American Chamber of Commerce announced that the three presidential candidates have been invited to speak at special luncheons during the month of April. The candidates will be talking about their government plans in regard to business and trade.
The politicians have been specifically asked to speak about their attitudes to the resolutions adopted by the business sector during the Second National Business Convention held last November.
The Chamber has organized such talks before every election since 1986. Their timing has resulted in their being used as forums to make important announcements only days before the election.
The first to speak to the Chamber will be Dr Leonel Fernández, the presidential candidate for the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) on 17 April. On 23 April, Dr José Francisco Peña Gómez will speak on behalf of the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano and the Acuerdo de Santo Domingo. Jacinto Peynado, presidential candidate for the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano, will be the last, with his speech scheduled for the 30 April luncheon.
Those interested in attending should reserve their places well in advance. The talks will take place at noon in the Salón La Mancha at the Hotel Lina.
The order of the speakers is based on the number of votes their parties received in the last election.
