The Funeraria Blandino, soon to reach its 65th anniversary in the D.R., has announced a new cremation service which will begin in mid-1996. According to Fernando Arredondo Blandino, the company’s general administrator, the furnace, bone grinders etc., needed for such a service have not yet arrived in the country, nor has a site been chosen for the crematorium. Mr. Arredondo Blandino said that the service had not been offered before because of a lack of demand and the high cost of the required equipment. He did say, however, that for the last ten years the bodies of those who wished to be cremated have been sent to Puerto Rico.
