Jaime David Fernández Mirabal was chosen as the vice presidential candidate of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana. Presidential candidate Leonel Fernández proposed Jaime David Fernández Mirabal last Friday, following a tortuous decision process. He was approved by the majority vote of 1,200 branches from the PLD throughout the country.
Fernández Mirabal is 41 years old, and the senator for Salcedo. He graduated as a physician specializing in psychiatry in Spain. He is also an agronomist.
Professor Lidio Cadet, secretary general of the party, said that the capacity, honesty and vocation of Jaime David Fernández demonstrated during six years of service in the Senate will counter all arguments against him. The major criticism of his nomination is similar to that leveled against the presidential candidate of the PLD – that he is young and has not been known as a manager of anything.
