Dominican journalist, Juan Bolívar Díaz, has just released his book on the election in 1994. The book discusses the origins of the election and the Pacto por la Democracia that brought about emergency constitutional reforms to stave off the grave political crisis that evolved. The book is called “Electoral trauma” and it dissects all the processes of preparation for the election, maintaining that from the beginning there was a conspiracy in the JCE to delay the organization’s work and create a state of chaos in which to conceal the fraud. Nevertheless, they left clear traces of their work and these were noticed and denounced by advisors and international observers, creating a commotion with national and international ramifications. He said his book is based on more than 2,000 pages of documents from the JCE and municipal juntas, institutions that advised the JCE, and from the Comisión de Verificación, the international observers and others. The book includes a chronological account that begins in 1992 with the election of the judges of the JCE.
