RD$280 million given for public works

President Joaquin Balaguer has paid approximately RD$280 million for the completion of various public works. The purpose of the monies, according to the director of the Public Works department Ramon Antonio Garcia Santos, will be the completion of the widening of the Autopista Duarte and the paving of hundreds of streets in the capital and the interior. Mr. Garcia Santos told the newspaper Hoy that the work on the Autopista Duarte will be completed at the end of April or beginning of May. The widening of the Autopista Duarte has cost over RD$3,000 million.

The rest of the RD$280 million given this week, according to Mr. Garcia Santos, will be used to pave streets in Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, Santiago, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris and San Cristobal.
