Cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez, on his Fe y Acontecer program on Televida, the Catholic Church channel, asked Dominicans to turn out en masse to vote on 16 May. Cardinal López Rodríguez favors the change in the electoral law whereby the president of the nation is elected by the vote of the majority. “We cannot question the reasons why people vote for this or that candidate, but what is important is for the people to vote, and that their vote be respected by both the winner and the losers,” said the influential Cardinal.
