The president of the JCE reported that in accord with the new Electoral Law, the JCE will take control of the state radio and television services 24 hours before and after the election. He said that, during this time, the private stations would not be obliged to join the official transmissions, but the law prohibits them from transmitting news or information of a political nature that may interfere with the functions of the JCE or, in any way, affect the normality of the electoral process.
The state network comprises Radio Televisión Dominicana, Dominicana television station, and the radio stations Dominicana FM, la Voz de las Fuerzas Armadas and Radio Educativa.
