The Dominican Foreign Minister, Carlos Morales Troncoso, and the United States Ambassador to the D.R., Donna Jean Hrinak, have signed an agreement that outlines the mechanism for the return of vehicles stolen in the U.S. and brought to the D.R., to be returned to their legitimate owners. Mr. Morales Troncoso praised the accord as a demonstration of cooperation between the two nations against international crime, particularly in Latin America. Donna Hrinak told the news media that dozens of cars stolen in the U.S. were detected in the D.R. in 1995, and reminded everyone of the discovery of a group dedicated to the robbery of vehicles in the U.S., mostly in New York and New Jersey. In many cases, the cars have not been returned to their owners.
