President Balaguer met early this week, with the former President of Venezuela Luis Herrera Campins. Mr Herrera Campins visited in his position as president of the Organizacion Demócrata Cristiana of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Venezuelan politician emphasized the principal of non-intervention in the internal affairs of a country as one of the fundamental points guiding Latin American foreign policy. He told the press upon leaving the President’s office that he spoke with Dr Balaguer about the possibility of their being “undue interferences” in the election. “He is aware of the fact that at a given moment there can be elements that try to unduly interfere,” said the former President.
