JCE rules unmarked votes are to be discarded

The JCE decided last week to declare null and invalid all unmarked voting papers. It said that a ballot will not be declared invalid if it is marked in two or more boxes that make up an alliance or coalition, but it will be counted as only one vote. If the voter marks two or more boxes of opposing parties, the ballot will then be declared null and void.

The JCE also determined to merge several voting tables reducing the number from 10,376 to 9,946. The list of tables and their locations was published in the press on Friday, 10 May.
