A group of nine Cuban citizens were arrested on 15 May at Las Americas International Airport as they tried to fly to Puerto Rico with false documents purchased in the Dominican Republic. This is the third such group of Cubans discovered in the last three days. Those arrested on the 15th told authorities that they were planning to request political asylum in the United States. The traffic of illegal emigrants through the D.R. to the U.S. has been discovered to be common practice during the last several years.
