The director of the department of urban transit, Deligne Ascención, has announced that some traffic lights at busy intersections in the capital will be synchronized with others to improve the flow of traffic. Two of the first intersections to be affected will be at the corner of 27 de Febrero and Lincoln avenues, and also at Winston Churchill with 27 de Febrero. The new measures are the result, according to Mr. Ascención, of research carried out by a company known as SERCITEC, which was contracted by the Ministry of Public Works to conduct a study on the traffic problems in Santo Domingo.
