Jose Ceron, past president of the Dominican Association of Free Zones, said that 1996 could be one of the worst years for investment in the industrial free zones. He said that the lack of an active promotion policy does not help, as new investors are not attracted to the country. He recommended that the government design a promotion strategy as soon as possible. He said the country has not been promoting the sector for the last four years and that while the number of industrial parks has increased, the demand for space has not kept pace.
