After a more than seven-months on strike, doctors of the Asociación Médica Dominicana (AMD) employed at the hospitals of the Instituto Dominicano de Seguro Social (IDSS) returned to work. The agreement reached between the IDSS’s executive council and the AMD’s IDSS chapter includes the payment of salaries corresponding to the months of February, March and April, although little of the original demands leading to the work stoppage which began last 30 October were met. The AMD’s general strike with hospitals of the Ministry of Public Health, which also began last 30 October, ended at the beginning of May. The doctors’ strike was the longest of its kind in the history of the D.R.
